Federal Disability Job Fair - June 9

The U.S. Department of Labor in partnership with The Federal Executive Board will hold a Job Fair for people with disabilities from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on June 9, 2011 in Richardson, TX. Two sessions will each present 'How to Apply “Schedule A” Authority in the Federal Government?' and 'Employment and Training Programs and Career Websites.' 1. Hey Doc, I attended this event and was able to provide my resume and Schedule A letter to maybe 2 or 3 federal employers whom I haven't heard from yet. All the other federal agencies that were there just gave me a packet and told me to apply online at USAJOBS which is typical. I don't see how this is a step forward in improving the hiring opportunities for disabled applicants. How exactly is the U.S. Department of Labor and the Fed Exec Board measuring the effectiveness of disability hiring initiatives? To me it was yet another waste of taxpayer money.

  2. Would any of these jobs qualify for the SSA ticket to work program?

  3. It's a successful one for sure. Hope it will have another job fair for people with disability.
