SSA Announces New Compassionate Allowances Conditions to Speed Up Decisions on Disability Applications

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced 12 new Compassionate Allowances conditions involving severe heart diseases, bringing the total number of conditions in the expedited disability process to 100. Compassionate Allowances are a way to quickly identify diseases and other medical conditions that, by definition, meet SSA’s standards for disability benefits.

New Compassionate Allowances Conditions

  1. Aortic Atresia
  2. Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Recipient
  3. Eisenmenger Syndrome
  4. Mitral Valve Atresia
  5. Endomyocardial Fibrosis
  6. Primary Cardiac Amyloidosis
  7. Heart Transplant Graft Failure
  8. Pulmonary Atresia
  9. Heart Transplant Wait List - 1A/1B
  10. Single Ventricle
  11. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome
  12. Tricuspid Atresia

  1. Great to see that the SSA is trying to fast track claims for individuals with severe conditions. In the end this will benefit everybody by speeding up claims for everybody since SSA officers will have to spend as much time processing these claims.
